My wife's son (my stepson) lives in Bali. That makes a big difference for us. Bali is also better connected to Kupang in Timor where my wife was born and many of her family are.jimbog said:
Bali is overrated. Lombok is worth a looklincroft1710 said:I've heard Auckland prices are horrendous, but what about other parts of North Island. I don't know which I would choose, NZ or Bali. Bali is beautiful and warm and I love the cuisine.0 -
@RHemmings - check out the website for expatriates living in Indonesia. This website has been going for many years, so you might be able to find some advice there:
www.expat.or.id
(expat.or.id)
and www.livinginindonesiaforum.org
Hope this helps! (Used to be an expat in Singapore…..currently visiting south east Asia right now)1 -
Hi. I got some information from the expat website, but it seems that the regulars are so tired of people deciding to go live in Bali while knowing absolutely nothing, that often the replies are sarcastic. I already asked there, but didn't get any replies.Continental said:@RHemmings - check out the website for expatriates living in Indonesia. I wasn't aware of the livinginindonesiaforum and will try there.0 -
Have you tried the My Life Elsewhere website? I've only used it for entertainment and I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but it does say it has a Q+A forum so might be worth a look?

You have the same number of hours in the day as Einstein had. Use them.1 -
I haven't actually, and clearly I should have searched further. Having recently going through the FTB process in the UK, I'm perhaps a bit over-focussed on this site.YoungBlueEyes said:Have you tried the My Life Elsewhere website?
