  • Ours was a week (across a weekend Wed - Wed) with a couple of queries being raised by NW.  We used a broker. Nat West seemed to deal with any information they received from the broker within 24 hours.  Hope that helps
  • Hi all, just thought I would put our recent experience with NatWest (which has been good, but obviously nail biting). We're both first time buyers, applied with NatWest via broker. New build. So around 3 weeks from submission to offer, with a few queries/documents requested in between and the long Easter weekend!

    21 March- application submitted
    22 March - valuation completed
25 March - first round of documents submitted
28 March - second round of documents submitted
    Bank holiday weekend!
5 April - third round of documents submitted
10 April - Mortgage offer received

29th April - Application submitted via broker
    30th April - Valuation completed
1st May - Additional documents submitted (Work contract)
3rd May - Mortgage offer received

Super fast processing considering first time buyers with only 5% deposit. I work abroad and being payed in foreign currency and Mrs is nurse, so not alot of lenders to work with.

  • If anyone has any info on how long NatWest are currently taking for mortgage applications, I would appreciate it!

Just about to submit an application with them and all party’s have verbally agreed to a move in date of August 9th so hoping it all goes smoothly

I put my application in on 4th July - affordability checks and valuation have been done but still waiting a decision.

    Have you submitted yours yet?

We submitted our application on Friday the 5th July at 8:30am!

Monday 8th July, they requested some additional documents in relation to tax returns as I am self employed! This was due to my accountant being completely incompetent and not submitting my last 3 years returns correctly so all had to be amended for lenders which set us back a day or two!

    Tuesday 9th valuation was done!

Thursday 11th all amended returns and requested documents were sent to them once I had finally got my useless accountant to get them ammended and back to me!

Monday 15th our application was added to the offer queue

    Tuesday 16th Offer received!

If I had had a competent accountant, we probably would’ve received our offer 5/6 days sooner!

So to be fair to NatWest, they are moving super, super quick!
  • Found everyone’s timelines useful so wanted to add ours to help others know what they could expect. Bit of a gap between the application and the valuation but once that was done the process was really quick.

22nd July - Submitted our application through broker.

29th July - Valuation instructed and desktop valuation carried out (didn’t expect it to be a desktop as our LTV is high and the house hasn’t sold since 1997 and has had a few extensions added since then.

31st July - Valuation accepted by NatWest.
31st July - Requested letter confirming details of gifted deposit (parents are giving £5k as the house we are buying came up faster than expected so were slightly short on our own savings).

1st August - Additional payslips requested (this was my first payslip after a pay increase so wanted proof of that).
1st August - Offer received for full amount.

  • As the above has said, found others useful, so here is our timeline, it was for a second property therefore a few additional documents to submit but all in all very straightforward and quick.

Application was via a broker. We are both employed.

29th July -  AM application submitted and valuation completed in the PM.
30th July - additional documents requested - work contracts.
1st August - additional documents requested - details of outgoings for main residence.
5th August - mortgage offer received

We have just (yesterday) requested NatWest reduce the rate to match the new lower rates released - Still awaiting a response.
