118 118 Money will not let balance be moved to another provider

I have a credit card with 118 118 money and would like to move the balance to another card (FLUID) who are offering a 0% on balance transfers.  I have the FLUID card set up but when requesting the balance transfer 118 188 money are saying no, saying that personal data information does not match - we have checked and 118 and Fluid have the same details. Has anyone else had an issue moving balances from 118 credit card and what can I do to move this money?

  • How are you trying to do the transfer?

    You should be doing it via Fluid, not 118.  118 just receive the payment - they're not stopping it.
  • As above, the transfer should be initiated by Fluid.  You give them the 118 credit card details, they make a payment to 118, job done.
    As far as 118 are concerned, they're just receiving a payment, exactly the same as if you make a payment to them via direct debit or however you normally do it - they don't really care where/who the payment has come from.
    The only problem you sometimes encounter is if you try to transfer between cards operated by the same banking group - but as far as I'm aware, Fluid and 118 different entities, so this shouldn't be an issue.
  • Thank you for the information.  Fluid have all the details and have requested the transfer but 118 are saying no.
  • This sounds unusual.  Can you elaborate on "118 are saying no" - are you getting an error message when you try to do the BT on Fluid's website, or are you doing this over the phone?

    I had this issue before when requesting the BT on the app. I called up and managed to get it done over the phone. Make sure your address and name match exactly; double check statements if in doubt (could easily be that one wrong digit is preventing it from going through)

    Fluid don't accept transfers from every provider though

    In my experience, names and addresses are not checked when doing a balance transfer. As long as the card number is correct, the transfer should work. Indeed, it's possible (although usually against the rules) to transfer a balance from someone else's card.

    In my experience, names and addresses are not checked when doing a balance transfer. As long as the card number is correct, the transfer should work. Indeed, it's possible (although usually against the rules) to transfer a balance from someone else's card.

    Mine wouldn't go through because there was a conflict with the address (the word flat was missing). Minor, to me, but clearly major enough to them 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I'm not seasoned in credit cards so I trust what you're saying

    I have this problem... I have a Fluid card and mainly got so i could transfer a balance from 118...
    Fluid card would not accept this balance transfer for 118.
    Rang Fluid up and they said to rings Trans Union has there was an issue on there side blocking it. 
    Rang Trans Union and we both checked to see if any details different.. None all was good. Trans union then said its because my new Fluid card is not up on the credit system .So the cards wont connect untill Fluid is on my credit account.
    Rang Fluid back and asked when will my card be added and they said the end of this month...I also then asked . Will it be ok then to do the balance transfer to 118. The lady then told me no. Because Fluid does not accept 118 balance transfers at all. Why did they not say this when i rang first time and also let us know this when i applied for the card because that was the main reason i applied for Fluid so i could transfer 118. Saving me on paying the charges.  
    I then had chat with 118 to confirm this and they also said that they do not accept Fluid. I thpught balance transfers were accepted on any card . I have never know that some will be rejected.... No real reason to why from Fluid or 118. 
    So be careful when choosing to do balance transfers... Been mislead ...maybe 118 just like to keep us because we pay the high intreast charges...
    What do people think.....

    Is the 118 card active i.e has not had a block put on it for whatever reason.

    Yes I had same issue with Fluid and Aqua when it came to 118 118 card on app and chatting to person on their helplines.  Fluid and Aqua not listed as a no go transfer card and when checked by the adviser who advised to check details with Trans Union -so frustrating.
