Very large gas usage advice

I agree with the suggestion that if you have a newbuild the meter will be a smart meter, they stopped installing the old sort a while back. Which means you should be able to get your usage by the half hour and really see when you are using it. (I have seen mention of a bright app, if your energy company doesn't have this facility.) Look for any spikes in use and see if you can work out the cause (eg showers) and for high use when you aren't getting benefit (overnight heating or when you are out).

I really don’t think we have this. It must be a smart meter but we are in NI and use company called power NI, all bills are online but we don’t see usage by the half hour. I will ring them ask. I have turned off the mech ventilation and the boiling water tap - we used 7kwh between 2000 and 720am. I just can’t work it out.0

Ah, NI might be different to GB in this respect. Most of those saying that "surely have a smart meter" are assuming that you are in GB.
