Buildings insurance query

I’m currently undergoing a buildings and contents insurance claim for escape of water that caused fairly large damage to the property - as part of the drying process, walls have been stripped back to brick and in doing so it has uncovered some additional problems with the property.
Example - A door that was installed without a lintel and a lintel that needs urgent structural repair.
Q - Where does the liability sit for these previously unknown issues that have only been brought to light following necessary remedial works?

With you, I expect, as they're not defects caused by insured risks.

Not your insurers... Home insurance excludes poor design and defective workmanship. Depending on how old the property is and if you bought it directly from the builder or not etc then there maybe a claim against them but more likely its going to fall to you if these must be corrected or you want them corrected.
