MINI Cooper - fog lights keep coming on?!

Wondering if anyone had experience with this, please? When I am driving on my dipped headlights setting at night, the fog lights frequently just switch themselves on. I can flick them back off again, but it isn't great, as worried about blinding other motorists, etc. Wondered if anyone had experienced this, or if a trip to the garage is needed? TIA.

Are you sure it's your fog lights and not an automatic full beam setting on the car?.....assuming it's the front lights?0

Is it using the fogs as cornering lights?
A lot of cars do this, when you have the dipped beams on and steer around a corner, they turn that particular sides fog lamp to to help illuminate the corner.
Mine does it.
There's no telltail on the dash like you'd get if you did turn the fogs on, it just does it automatically without a dash warning.0 -
Read the manual about the lighting system. If the vehicle has an automatic cornering or full beam system turn it off. Its a pain in my vehicle as I have lights on auto which also means auto full beam, so I have to turn auto lighting off to have control of the lighting.0

Same here, and never realised I had this feature on our new car until I was turning corners 😄 Ironically given the height of the bonnet I’m not sure there’s a great benefit as I can’t see the nearside kerb.Goudy said:Is it using the fogs as cornering lights?

Mini side lights / running lights are the second set down from the top in this image - they will be onThe fogs are below the bumper. The fogs can dazzle because the light reflects back up from a wet road.Auto lights are an interesting thought, on mine the auto lights stay on low beam and work that if I select high beam they auto dip as required. Check not left on high beam?

I'd post this question on a Mini forum, not a money saving forum.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

So, somewhat embarrassingly, I solved the issue. I was sat too far forward and my clearly chunky knee must have kept pushing one of the fog lights on accidentally 🫣 I am sitting further back now, and there are now thankfully no issues... Thanks all. PS It was money saving to me, as it saved a trip to the garage!5
