Mcr property/cost design or whatever other name they wish to go by have held my and my flatmates deposits for close to 6 months now even though we have provided them with fully paid bills and council tax exemption forms. There has been a variety of excuses from they've sent it out to will have to look into it to directors come in once a month to sign cheques. They're also now claiming money for cleaning costs even thought the property was far cleaner on exit than entrance, no inventory/state of property was taken and the next tennants moved in litterally straight after us...
This isn't an ask for help, it's being dealt with - am about to issue the small claims court papers but more a heads up to anyone in manchester who is considering using them or who is currently using them.

what size property are you after, can probably put you in touch with my previous years landlord who was the best landlord I've ever had (and had quite a few now). Just wish he'd had a 3 bed place as that's why we moved.0

Bumping this just incase there are any more manchester students out there
has continued, issued the small claims court claim and surprise surprise they offered to return the deposit but this time with even more knocked off for cleaning, then the same amount and after all the trouble they've put me to I now want it all back on principal. Not going to say here yet how but we have (I believe) a 100% cast iron case (obviously no such thing but as close as can be). Once it's all finished with I'll let you know and you can have a good laugh at their expense.0 -
Thanks for the heads up!0

Ok today was meant to be the day in court, they've all along stood their ground saying they were in the right and wouldn't pay back more than £x. Anyway they started to phone and email quite a bit this week to try settle out of court, first they wanted to offer just the deposit (no interest or non court costs) then they offered the interest as well and finally offered a sum I would accept yesterday.
I told them that the money had to be cleared in my account yesterday and for them to send a letter stating that they had paid the sum in question for this case. Was told the money had been paid in and they sent a scan of the letter. Anyway end of day yesterday and no sign of the money and the bank said there was nothing pending on the account.
Emailed them (had to be fair and warn them) and told them that as the money wasn't there I couldn't trust them and had to go through with the court case. Strangely enough today just before I was about to go to court the money appeared via CHAPS - now this is a same day transfer method and they claimed that they transfered the money on thurs morning?!!?
My belief is they were trying it on and wanted me to not turn up at court and the case get struck out.
Again, Manchester students I'd advise you to have nothing to do with these cowboys.0 -
glad it's all finally sorted out for you!:happyhear0
