Looking for SIPP investment ideas

Hi

I've recently moved a couple of small pension pots to a SIPP. I've invested one in a L&G tech fund. This leaves me with a pot of 2k cash that I would like to split 50/50 between 2 new investments.

I also have a LISA in which I've invested mostly in techy funds and nearly all ACC so I'd be open to INC this time. What else do you need to know... I'm late 30's so will build this SIPP for about 20 years. I already have Vanguard Life Strategy 80%. I'm not intending to make regular investments in this case - just one offs. And with this value, I don't mind higher risk.

I'd appreciate any ideas for 2 investments of 1k.

What's the rationale? Are you sure there are no reinvestment charges?

Until you get to around £8000+ it really doesn't matter what you invest in as the differences in the returns will not have a large enough monetary difference.

What is your investment strategy?  What sort of asset and or sector, region coverage are you looking for?

  • A single sector fund like a "tech fund" will be quite risky so while you might see great returns you could see big losses too. If you want a bit less risk go with a global equity index fund which will be far more diversified. If you want to be even more diversified look at multi asset funds such as Vanguard's VLS series. Don't forget about saving at least 6 months cash in your bank or an easy access saving account.
And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
  • I second the question about what your strategy/goals are - it's worth addressing these as a whole. It sounds like you have VLS80 as a core portfolio and then a fun portfolio (which you're currently wrapping in a SIPP/LISA) of tech funds, which you're looking for more suggestions for, is that right?
