Where is British Gas van auction?
Does anyone know where the old British gas vans are sold please. Im a plumber and one would be ideal as racked out and most have air con.
A few dealers are selling them but I would rather just buy from auction.
Thanks

I used to see some in the BCA auction in Newport, but this was quite a few months ago, might be worth giving them a ring

Assuming it was a Combo you wanted, there has just been a BIG de-fleet, accross all the auction centres, but there are some still around.
Belle Vue in Manchester have some 54 reg with below 30k miles, expect to pay around £3000 + VaT + auction premium. This is www.british-car-auctions.co.uk but also stock in www.manheimauctions.co.uk as well
Which part of the country are you - depending on how desperate you are, the centres all get a share of the stocks, so you might not have to go too far, if you hang on a bit.
www.commercialauctionview.co.uk might still be free to non-account customers, take a look!
A few things to think of with BG fleet - regularly maintained, quite often main dealer, too, but DO listen to auctioneers description, as sometimes the vans will have a detailed service record & might have recently been done. Others are just coming up to 3 years old, need a BIG service & MoT as well, so allow for this costing, in your budget.
Watch for poor paintwork repairs. The blue colour fades badly, isn't always matched/blended in well & once the signage is removed, a 'hard; edge to the paint repair is left, which you won't get rid of easily.
You want the racking - so do check it's complete. Sometimes bits are 'borrowed' & might not be the set up you want.
Also blue isn't easy as white to sell on again, but guess thats sometime ahead!
Have fun & ask again if you want more info!

Thanks for all the replies.
I was all set to go to newport on the 9th (thanks rakeshtak)but it is a long way , Im from Leeds so about 250 miles.
Vansboy, I will look at the sites that you suggested ( many thanks) . Its a connect van that Im after . Looking for a 3 year old one with , well 20k would be nice. I was expecting to pay 4k + vat and fees, is this realistic? Its really gotta be a gas van cos of racking and air con .
Re the paintwork and signage. Isnt it just a case of a good T cut after the letters are peeled off?
Thanks again all.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -
There are no BG Connects showing in Leeds at the moment.
There ARE some - with under 30k - in Haydock though! So not as far!
Paintwork WILL machine polish, back to colour, don't waste your time with T-Cut, as it's NOT the nicest stuff to use. It contains amonia, destroys, rather than improves the paint (& actually makes me physically sick to use - sorry if you;re having your tea!!)
What you do need to be aware of, is how well the stickers have been removed - lots scratching with blades will leave marks you can't get rid of. & as I mentioned, if it's been repainted, there will be a hard line, edge against where the stickers were.
If you PM me, with a direct e-mail, I'll let you have some close up pics of some of the Haydock entries.

What about an ex BT transit? They have more rackin, more space, usualy a pipe carrier on the roof, night heater, all sorts etc.
You don't even need to go to an auction, local depot should be able to sell you one, or there's plenty of 2nd hand bt vans about0 -
does anyone know how much the movanos/masters are going for at auction? thanks0

In 2007 they were being sold at the auctions listed above. I presume you tried them?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
