Stuck on a business contract due to meter issues and now charged a fortune

Hi there,
2 years ago I moved into a flat block. I inherited a business supplier for gas and electricity and was told that I need to switch to a retail supplier.
Due to metering issues, I never managed to switch away my gas. There has been difficulty associating my meter with my flat - and this was an issue true for the whole block. I tried to switch away at least twice (perhaps more).
At a point, billing for the whole block was paused by the management company of the block due to the metering issues.
I have just moved out and received a final bill by reference to my last meter read for £7000 for 10 months of gas spanning the summer. It is a mind-blowing number for a 2 bedroom flat.
Is there anything I can do? I am interested to find out if anybody has successfully fought anything similar, and how they went about doing it. Any advice gratefully received.
I am also curious to know if a business gas supplier can legally supply a retail customer with gas, and charge them business rates like this. I presume I have not had the benefit of any price caps or the like?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

Re your final bill. Can you give us the meter reads please and confirm they were your reads. What unit rate and standing charge ?
Edit - to add. What was the end date of your contract ? If ,say, it was Dec ,2024 you may have been charged a daily standing charge up till that date.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
