Welsh cakes

It's St David's Day on Friday ... will you be making welsh cakes? Do you have a preferred recipe?
(Apparently there will be daffodils in reception at MSE Towers later this week in honour of all things Welsh...)
Personally the best welsh cakes I've ever tasted came from the stall at Cardiff Market.
There's some welsh cake wisdom in the forum archives too: check out threads from 2006, 2007 and 2008 for some inspiration.
We'd love to see pics of any welsh cakes you make

Cardiff Market are great - a huge variety as well!
Although always original for me.1 -
I like eating them but have never tired making them. I wouldn't imagine its too difficult - like a griddle scone? No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Dead easy to make. I have a few recipes and prefer the BBC version. Best eaten warm. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/welsh-cakesSwansea market has lots of choice including straight from the griddle.0

Oooh I love Welsh Cakes! And will certainly be making some on Friday. (Can't remember which recipe I followed last time, though.) I bought some lovely ones on Haverfordwest market last time I was up there, in October, and the bakery there does nice ones too.Angie - GC Feb 25: £333.75/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

There is a recipe to make them on a George Foreman grill for anyone who doesn't have a griddle.0
