My experience is that Denplan will only take you on once they have established that your teeth are problem free.

Have you looked into NHS 111 for access to an emergency dentist?

Insurance covers unforseen events, not something thats already happened. Thats like going to the bookies and asking to put money on yesterday's race.

There are cash plans that come into immediate effect including pre-existing dental but you are committing to a years coverage normally as soon as you make a claim so looking at a random one that is £25 month, you are committing to pay £300 in premium and the maximum you can claim for dental is £120 so unless you can claim more than £180 on other areas you are going to be out of pocket

I think they were asking about dental plans, not dental insurance. OP, the only good ones I've seen are ones that cover NHS dentistry. My OH had one and could claim back half the cost of all check ups and half for any other works up to about £500 a year, and it cost her about £10 ish a month from memory, which was usually just the check up fee. She gave that up a couple of years ago as it was a work thing, and they retired.
