Hi there , just found an old password and note of the free mutual.net shares I was given back in the late 1990’s . I understand that they have been taken over several times since and are now trading on the AIM as progressive digital media group . Anyone else have any ? Know if they have any value? Any idea how to cash them in without a certificate as we were never given one due to receiving the shares free ?

*Edit 1: Apparently Progressive Digital bought GlobalData and then changed its name to GlobalData.

*Edit 2: See this MSE thread from 2013 re themutual.net shares. Doesn't look promising value wise - there appears to have been a massive dilution of the shares through, probably, capital raises - but sounds like your shares would have been held with Capita as the nominee.
To understand your position you'd really need to delve into the history and understand what kind of takeovers they were e.g., if every one was an all share transaction then you might own shares in GlobalData but if one of them was all cash, say, 20 years ago then you would no longer own any shares and the unclaimed cash will probably have been forfeited by now.

Blimey, that's a blast from the past. I'm sure I also registered with them and got some free shares (worthless at the time!) but I have absolutely no recollection of what happened to them or whether I ever had anything on paper.0

I've got some of these (and only found this thread in my search for CGT implications as I'm about to get rid of them).I did receive a share certificate for my 1,738 "TMN Group PLC" shares in Dec/2006, not sure what existed before thenThese 1738 shares then became 140 "Progressive Digital Media Group plc" shares in Apr/2013 which in turn became 1,000 "GlobalData plc" shares in July/2023These are currently worth about £2,000 so it's well worth trying to find paperwork & share certs!!0

I have just come across a share certificate for 913 TMN Group shares when sorting out my affairs before I expire.
Any idea how to get these converted to Global data shares or cash if they are worth anything?16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. Interested in this thread and whether anyone has had any recent success as just come across a shareholding in some of my own paperwork following a recent move.0
