They are looking for bankruptcy or huge debts to be honest and could make you a risk being around information.
We had staff with defaults and such who passed no problem. You’ll be fine.
Having huge debts isn't a problem in itself, its being late on payments etc that show its a problem. Have known self proclaimed CxO types in startups etc having wild swings in fortunes as they sell companies, raise capital for new ventures, buy a private jet/yacht etc and none have had issues will millions of debt and working in FS.
The joys of working with the FCA is that they set the rules but don't set how you have to abide by the rules. As such each company will take a slight different view on what exactly it means and just how "clean" they want to be. Defaults were certainly an issue with a former banking client as periodically staff were called into HR when their random checks had identified a new default... in practice the 3 I knew of each resigned prior to the HR meeting on the matter as seen better to fall on your sword than be dismissed.
Given the OP states they are up todate, no over limits or late payments let alone defaults, then I agree they'll be fine.
