IPod and downloading videos

My husband has an Ipod 80gb classic is it possible to download videos/dvds/tv programs on to it. If so how is it done. I will be spending 2 weeks in hospital with my daugter so need plenty of things to keep me sane!! It this is a really stupid question then sorry I can't cope with all this high tech stuff!!!

    you need videos in the correct format for the ipod.
    where are you getting them from/what format do you have?

    i use http://www.aone-soft.com/ covertor software so i can rip stuff from youtube.

    you can just drag videos to itunes then add them to the ipod playlist.

    yes definatly.i have the likes of 300 on my ipod and some family guy etc.
    just get them from wherever ;) and either convert them or try and source them ready converted

    excellent so I (DH) would need to download
    the software first and then convert it. Or find it already converted on web. I will give my husband that job then for the weekend!! Do you know which websites have these already converted? So if a tv program was available on the web ie channel 4 and now BBCi could they then be downloaded to ipod? As you can tell I ain't got a clue about all this! But will impress husband by my newly found information!
    If it wasn't for this website I would have been in bed 2 hours ago!!!
