John Lewis Tempur trial

  • On your first point - maybe. I took it to mean that JL and Tempur had agreed something that would give JL customers some reassurance to order from them rather than go to Tempur direct - who offer a more comprehensive trial. Doesn't really matter - if there is a clause that only one purchase and return is allowed that needs to be mentioned.

On the second point - we'll have to agree to disagree. Clause 8 only seems to refer to *exchanges* during the 60 night trial. What I'm proposing may well be against the spirit of this, but doesn't seem against the wording. I'm not exchanging and once I've returned the trial will end. A new trial would start if I were to buy another mattress.

Definitely agree with your last sentence though. Just need to check how long the vouchers are valid for and look up best loans to fund an alternative mattress from elsewhere.

I have asked a couple of times

have you been using the breathable cover over the mattress as per the t and cs?

if you have ( altho not sure how they can prove one way or another) then I think you are entitled to a refund, you definitely should not have told them you may want another refund down the line

Sorry, I missed that one. Yes, I've been using a cover. Whether they'll argue is another question as it's one I already had, not one I bought at the same time.

I judged it better to be honest with them now rather than risk buying a second and being refused a refund on that if it was needed. Always hard to know how to deal with cases like this, but I find the less you hide the less they have to get you on.
