Samsung s24 Ultra John Lewis

Morning,

I pre ordered the above phone from John Lewis. The promotion was for a free wireless charger (supplied by John Lewis) and a free smart watch by redemption.

I applied to Samsung for the watch and the "claim" was approved. I received some ear buds and a smart tag (which is the current promotion)

John Lewis say there was no such promotion (smart watch) unless I can prove it with a promotion code.

Samsung are looking into it.

Where do I stand please?

You need to read the terms of the promotion.  I suspect there was a clause along the lines of "while stocks last" or "we reserve the right to change the promotional items to ones of similar value", or perhaps the promotion was time-limited and the promotion that applies is the "live" one at the time of redemption?

Without knowing the terms, it's impossible to confirm your rights.

Is it possible that the OP was searching sites for the phone, saw the offer elsewhere, and got it mixed up with the JL offer.  It seems odd otherwise that JL are so categorical in their response.

I recall there was an offer for the watch, but it was if you ordered direct from Samsung (possibly even through their shopping app specifically).  You had to "pre-order" from Samsung before the release date.  No idea if it was elsewhere as well at same or different terms to Samsung, sorry.

  • Thank you all. The offer was listed with the advert on the John Lewis site. It was underneath the ones that said about the free wireless charger (which I received), the upgrade to double memory for free if pre ordered (which I got) and then this redemption one. I dud screenshot it at the time but stupidly deleted it when Samsung accepted my claim.

So three concurrent offers on the same product?

Charger and extra memory are relatively cheap but the cost of a smartwatch is significant. Can you remember whether the watch had a condition such as 'not available in conjunction with any other offer'?

Found this online, John Lewis is included in the terms.

One other thing that comes to mind (sorry, I can't check because my work internet blocks wayback machine for some reason). Is there an archived page for the listing in January? Worth checking what it says the promotion is then and the terms.

It seems OP may not be mistaken as you can see other people talking about this offer on another forum:

    https://forums.androidcentral.com/threads/galaxy-s24-ultra-dispatch.1064395/page-4

    In particular:

"If they give me the option I'll cancel and get the phone from John Lewis. I guess tomorrow is the last day with the pre order offers"

"No it says till the 30th January"

"If that's the case then I'll go with John Lewis in a heartbeat. They were giving a wireless charger instead of the case but the same galaxy watch."
    Know what you don't
