Impossible to find car insurer after FIL death

Hi 
I was wondering if anyone can help out or has been in the same situation, please any advice much appreciated.
My FIL passed away and he has a car. He was a paperless man and we are finding it impossible to find out with whom the car was insured? We have checked his emails and bank and credit card statements over last year with no luck, what can we do next?
