No paperwork after gas service

Hi,

We are FTB and we had our first boiler service to a house we just bought.

The gas safe engineer did the service but the only evidence he provided is a receipt like paper.
He said that he cannot provide any other paperwork because the position of the flue is too close to some airbricks and that violates regulations.

This sounds not right to me.. Is this a valid concern? I think he  should have provided more  paperwork.

I think you may be confusing a gas safety certificate, that is required for rental properties with a gas service that owner occupiers choose to have done. There is no reporting requirements on the latter.

Since he got paid in cash, he didn't provide any paper/receipt.
  • my guy fills in the service details in the back of the book that comes with the boiler.  It includes all the pressures he tested as well as all the details on date, company and cost

Is he actually gas safe? Do his contact details match those of the person on the gas safe register that he's claiming to be?

Ours just provides an invoice that states what the invoice is for. Boiler service, replacement parts etc.
Of course if you pay in cash, sometimes paperwork can be a bit lacking.....

I had mine serviced last week.  I paid in cash but got a receipted invoice on my email before he left & he filled in the service book.  It isn't as if you will need to prove the job has been done unless maybe if you are moving house.

Surely if it violates regulations he should have done something about it, like extending the flue away from the airbricks.
