60mm or 70mm profile

Hi,

I am getting quotes for having UPVC double glazing replaced. What are the differences between a 60mm and 70mm profile? Is one preferable over the other?

Thicker profile = better insulating properties. Possibly, thicker glass units, especially if you consider triple glazing. AFAIK, 70mm is the most common thickness.
  • Thanks, both quotes are 4mm(glass) + 20mm(gap) + 4mm(glass) double glazing.

Look for the u values, to compare.

I would think the thinner profile will look better, but probably would go for the thicker ones if the windows were of any significant size, due to better strength.
Probably if the installer is reputable and the profile producer is one of the main ones, they would not suggest something unsuitable anyway. How well they are installed is probably more important.
