Hi, can anyone explain why and how to get rid of a 'number' that appears on my messenger logo on my Facebook page. I think it indicates a new message on messenger but upon checking there isn't   🤔

 I have had this and it really bugged me. Check your message requests and spam messages

Mrs B has had this, despite there being no messages or such like.

Open Messenger, tap the three lines, tap the following places:

Marketplace 
Message Requests You May Know
Message Requests Spam

See if an unread message is lurking in one of those.

This is just a guess but is the number part of the logo rather than an indicator of new messages?

 I cleared mine after discovering the people you may know folder. There was a message there from someone i didn't know but the logo vanished once i read and deleted it

Did you go through every individual suggestion?

 No you're thinking about friend suggestions. 

 I mean Facebook messenger, you beed to go to messages and look for Message Requests You May Know and Message Requests Spam

Sadly not - we gave up trying after a while and then it disappeared, but then came back again!
