Shower trap/waste question

Options
About to fit a new ‘hi-flow’ Mcalpine shower waste which comes with a thicker bottom seal that goes ‘under’ the tray and a thin top seal that sits on the top facing side of the tray directly underneath the screw in part.  I’m really not keen on these thin top seals, so what are people’s views?  Leave the seal out and replace with a decent silicone like CT1, or fit the top seal?

Yes, I've done this in the past and I don't think you need anything 'decent'. CT1 and other hybrid polymers have very strong adhesive properties - you can struggle with disassembling should you need this in the future.
If using silicone I'd let it set a little before assembling.

I've always used the seal with plumbers mait, or nowadays plumbers gold on top and bottom of the top seal. I'm not a plumber by trade, but it's what most of the plumbers I've worked with have done.

We did not fit it but when we had the new walk in shower fitted our plumber/bathroom fitter discarded the drain that came with the shower tray in favour of a McAlpine one as he always uses them and has never had a problem.

If you're looking to box in pipes and tidy up your plumbing, I'd recommend reaching out to a top-rated plumbing company in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina for quick repairs. These professionals are well-versed in handling such tasks efficiently, ensuring that your pipes are neatly enclosed and your plumbing system looks clean and organized. They also offer quick turnaround times, so you won't be waiting around too long. I've had great experiences with local companies who are known for their reliability and quality work. Make sure to get a few quotes and check reviews to find the best fit for your needs!
