Morning all - made it downstairs after a bit of faffing around. The temperature is much lower than earlier in the week so it's rather a shock, the upside is that the sky is much lighter, not quite daylight yet but still wonderful to see.Yesterday was a blur of inactivity well, not as lazy as that sounds but it was fairly relaxed. I made a couple of 'happy birthday' calls, one turned into a fabulous marathon as I hadn't spoken to this person for ages. She's the wife of the chap up the hill and daughter-in-law of the frail man in the big house. This morning I'm off on the bus to meet up with the lovely Camelot for brunch. She suggested a place further away for her but closer to me and then said she was booking the bus - so I did too! Perfect solution to the parking problem. We each have our old biddy bus passes so it's only the £1.00 booking fee to stump up. I'm so looking forward to it.I hope that our poorlies are mending and @SO had a good time at at her new group.11

Morning All
Not so much of the 'Old Biddy' Gers! Looking forward to a much overdue catch up later. I haven't been on the 'big' bus before, it'll be quite an adventure.
Definitely colder this morning, I've had the heating on for a while. Bed stripped and the bedding washed. I've half made the bed but need to wait for the sheet to dry before I can put it back on, the other sheets are at the flat. Talking of the flat it's now on the market with 4 viewings booked already so hopefully it will go quickly. The rogue sky dish has been taken down and the window is being fixed next week hopefully (the outer pane of one of the living room windows is missing!).
Bathrooms have been cleaned and I'm about to go in the shower. Hope everyone has a good weekend, take care. XX11 -
Morning and 'thank you' for starting us off Gers.
There has been a frost here but the sun is shining now.
Hope Gers and Camelot have a lovely 'catch up'.
Take care everyone. x11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you and CAMELOT have a lovely meet up. I am intrigued by your being able to book the bus! I have to go to the stop and hope it turns up! It's blooming cold here too and Jack Frost was out in the night looking at the white covering everywhere. Otherwise it's a lovely start with blue sky and sunshine. Hope it lasts.
A dark wash is on the go but it will be festooning the back bedroom ( the one that gets the sunshine) as outside it would freeze to the line I think. Not much else will be done today I don't think, I'll go with the flow and maybe something exciting will happen - but probably not!
NAN big hugs for you. You are right it's frightening just how many people are suffering with the dreaded C these days. Everybody you know has somebody who has it or knows somebody who has it. And while on the subject, it's been even worse news for the SIL I mentioned a week or two ago. It's been just the worst possible news for her this week as it's not confined just to the bowel but she can't understand why, with all this happening, she remains feeling fit, well and painfree.
Anyway, I hope you all have a good day and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad and worried. I am concerned we have had no word from our MIA. How did yesterday go SO? Take care all, be safe xx

It's not a service bus but a long distance coach - this one is the Glasgow to Campeltown one. Concession card holders are required to book to make sure that they get a sear. In the tourist season the coaches get jammed. As we travel free a booking fee is reasonable. No booking required for the ordinairy buses.

Morning everyone
We've got a bright white frost this morning - hopefully it'll warm up a bit as I've a load of washing to do. I managed to get paint on my newly washed dressing gown yesterday when little one was painting. She had a plastic pinny on so she was fine. When DD picked her up, she dropped me at the cafe down the hill to meet my friend - lovely raspberry and white chocolate cake and a hot chocolate and a good natter. I had almost cancelled as my antibiotics are making me feel quite sick, but I enjoyed it so I was glad I'd made the effort.
I'm not going back to work till Thursday next week, when I'll be finished the antibiotics and steroids and hopefully feeling better.
Little one is still not eating much since coming home from hospital, DD spoke to her dietician yesterday and she's put her back on milk feeds 4 times a day as she has lost weight. Not sure what will happen with school next week as the school staff haven't been trained to use the feeding pump....she'll maybes have to do half days. DD is hoping it could be just for a few days if she starts eating properly again.
I'm going to go down to mam and dads this morning as I didn't get down to do his banking yesterday, then I'll have a few hours peace until little one comes back for her sleepover - DD is working this afternoon and tomorrow morning.
So I'll wish you all a good day - Camelot and Gers have a lovely brunch.
SO - hope you were welcomed at your group and made to feel comfortable x11 -
Morning all. My that was a bit brass monkeys yesterday wasn't it? And today so far. I lit the fire last night and you know it's cold when you're not sweating with the fire full roar. My cousin has a gas problem so hasn;t had heating for over a week, it must be bloody freezng there...Thanks for asking Gers, they came out quite well, I jiggered the recipe about a bit and put lemon zest and sumac in for a lemony hit on the next lot whichhave been frozen into the already groaning freezers...Talking about cancer, I remember in the eighties seeing adverts for 1 in 4 people will get cancer, then it went to 1 in 3, now it's 1 in 2. before long, it'll be everyone. the incidence of cancer is either a lot easier to spot and it was going undiagnosed in the eighties, or our lifestyles now are not conducive to not getting it. I still think mine was caused by the pill [in various forms, injections, tablets, extra tablets etc] , my body really hated it and it sent my hormones doolally. Nanny, it is terrifying, to be honest, youve sounded quite put together but there's always an element of paddling like crazy under the water. And then once you're on the cancer train you can't get off until you're dumped off the other end...So many people kept telling me, oh, you're so brave, very irritating, I was always thinking, not really, I'm not brave at all, the choices are do the treatment or not. I can't change things, so what's brave about that? Everyone deals with stuff differently, being terrified is completely normal, dont let anyone bully you into putting a brave face on things if you don't want to. Just pretend I'm holding your hand if you like, and anyone else who's had it and knows the terror.
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...10 -
Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Well yesterday I made a total fool of myself at the bereavement café.
Everyone had to sit in circle and introduce ourselves, and say something about themselves or how they'd been coping.(I thought AA meeting)
Well as they went around, getting closer to me, I could feel my anxiety building and I panicked and ran out of the room.
On the good side my heating is working but on the bad side he's found another problem.a leaking part. So more expensive and another visit.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Morning all
I woke at 4 this morning feeling so poorly that I took some strong painkillers and went back to sleep, I woke again at 8 and feel so dreadful 🤢 I did a covid test but it’s negative so it must be a flu type thing, my throat is so sore and I’m coughing so much and everything aches and I’m shivering, I’m going to have some tea and toast and go back to bed.
Gers and Camelot enjoy your meet xxx
SO bless you I’m sure people will be understanding, you were so brave to go in the first place please don’t let it put you off, sending love xxx
Have good days all and take care xx9
