    Are you Royalty?
I didn't get what you meant. But I get it now. It was a spelling mistake. Unfortunately the forum doesn't appear to have an edit option. 😂

What spelling mistake? I think he was making the point that you should pay for your own fuel.
Why put 10 litres in if you are not going to use a fair amount?

Return it with approx the same fuel as when you took it.

The original post refers to a curtsey car rather than courtesy.
  • My local Vauxhall dealer did this, I learnt my lesson.
I would turn up with my 5l fuel can.
Drive home, then drive back, if it ran out I would put a litre or two in.
    If not all is good.
One time I did not even get out of their yard. They poured 5l in to get me going.

I decided to be sensible and fill up the car with petrol .... I had put 10 litres in the car.
Was this a particularly small car?

Smaller than I was expecting when I dropped my 7 seater off for a service.

  • Lord above, you’re being given a car to get you about while yours is being worked on. I don’t see any reason to question it - you put In roughly what you use.

Fuel is give or take £6 a gallon these days, most courtesy cars are little runabouts that do do 30 - 40 mpg from cold trundling around on short trips so you put in a gallon / £6 per 30 or 40 miles you’ve done, depending on how stingy you feel.

My local tame mechanic doesn’t check, he just assumes that I’ve done the decent thing and returned it in the same state that it left. It’s not his problem really.
