Good morning All
One shop to declare from yesterday. Having crossed the £100 barrier in L!dl+ we had a voucher to spend on biscuits, so we headed for L!dl to collect a free packet of Chocolate Oaties. We also needed 3 litres of lactose-free milk (99p each), extra-mature cheddar (£4.89 for 800g), pâté and hot cross buns. £10.55 spent in total.

I have two more spends to declare from yesterday afternoon. In my previous post, I mentioned that DH’s best mate was coming around today to help in the garden and my plan was to cook him brunch. When in L!dl, DH bought one pack of muffins (i.e. 4 muffins), not thinking that we’d need at least 6 to make a decent batch of bacon butties, so yesterday afternoon we walked back to L!dl and bought another pack. Also picked up a tray of their chorizo sausages - the raw ones that need cooking - for £1.99. He hadn’t been able to find them earlier, hence buying the Sainsbugs version for £1.26 more than L!dl.
We cooked the Sainsbugs version last night in a Toad In the Hole and they were terrible. Didn’t taste like Chorizo at all. They also didn’t give off any fat when grilled, which meant that even if they’d tasted right, the batter would not be able to incorporate any of the Chorizo flavour. (For Toad In The Hole, I grill the sausages in the lasagne dish that I’ll use to bake it in. L!dl’s Chorizo sausages give off loads of garlicky, paprika flavoured fat, which then flavours the batter.
…The above brings our total spend to £138.61/£145.80 leaving £7.19 for the rest of the month.

Morning everyone. It’s a beautiful sunny day down in our part of Scotland and we’re on our way to a neighbouring town for a visit.
Here are our purchases over the past couple weeks.
£1 on eggs from an honesty box (forgot about this)
£9.75 at M & S for olive ciabatta rolls and a duck crown
£62.39 on a Tesco order. Even Mr. Jings was surprised at how little we got and almost everything was on sale
£3.50 on local eggs from an egg machine
£9.50 at M & S yesterday for strawberries, ciabatta rolls, 2 hummus pots, and zucchini
£6.53 at Savers yesterday for cough drops, dishwasher salt, and rinse aid
£258.93 / £350 spent. £91.07 remaining
We’ll stop in at a butcher and a baker while in the other town so I might have more numbers to add to our total later this evening. Hope everyone has a gorgeous day!

Spent £183 in Aldi which was less than expected as 2 items I bulk buy they didn't have
Going to add all of it to this month and try to keep the Tesco delivery to a minimum as I'm supposed to be emptying the kitchen ready for new one and I expect be mostly takeaways next weekend while it's fitted5 -
My new month starts this weekend (tomorrow) so my final spends all added up for March were
£439.33/500!
Really happy with that but it was hard - the kids moaned a lot about being hungrythey had breakfast, lunch, dinner and fruit on hand but apparently not an endless supply of snacks. I will keep to £500 though for next month to perhaps buy more snacks for hungry little munchkins!

I'm around £20 over for this week after popping into Lidl and Tesco's and buying lots of fresh bits and bobs.
Mainly salad veg, cottage cheese, a large tub of greek yoghurt and fruit.
Will be back on track hopefully from Monday when I restart the food budget.Decluttering campaign 2023

Plot basically completely lost here! But I know I spent roughly £60 on the butcher/market shop; a little more than £30 at the butcher, a little less on fish (£9.50] fruit & veg at the market. So that's what I've added. There'll probably be a tiny bit more - sliced bread, bananas, cheese & yogurt - but basically that's it for March & I'm still inside the budget! It will be a bit lower for April, although it's a 5-week month, but for most of it there'll be just 3 of us.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

So I decided yesterday to do a large shop at Ald! to see us through the Easter weekend and beyond as I won't have time this coming week to shop and I don't want to spend my precious time off work shopping. I spent more than I was expecting though and I'm now over budget by quite a bit! I'll reduce April's budget to compensate. Currently at £552.57/£450. Will need milk, carrots, broccoli/cauliflower and possibly some bread/rolls/wraps but otherwise we should have everything we need.Grocery Challenge 2024
