Well, those who don't pay their bills aren't contributing equally. Those who pay their bills regularly are the ones hit for this.
Correct. For anyone wondering why the price cap hasn’t fallen further, the reason is to recover the debt left by those who are refusing/unable to pay for their energy.

Standing charge is up 8.5% for me, when will this stop.

It will not, inflation will largely keep it ticking up forever, albeit at a lower rate if suppliers are allowed to enforce debt collection. However the need to invest in the energy network likely means that it will probably continue to rise slightly ahead of inflation forever.

I m £10 a month down just on standing charge rises in my region . Yorkshire along with Northern and Southern regions have had big rises in electric standing charges of 11.46 p Yorks, 13.76 p Northern and 13 .36 p Southern. " That " London though get away with a  couple of pence  rise in SC  already the lowest rate from just 38.50 p to 40 .79 p  in the UK . Makes me think its Londoners who fix the new rates..Its bent !

"Governed by the few, for the few"

Although I'm not sure that's the case here (eg, suggestion above that the SC increases are political in nature).

In this case, I suspect its the benefits of scale - more people in a smaller area using the same core infrastructure will naturally mean a lower cost per person, whereas those out on the limbs of the UK, where the infrastructure cost is higher (due to distance) and the population density is lower, will pay more per capita.

I like the suggestion elsewhere on this thread that the wide range of SC now means that they should be published as a range, not an average.

A few areas have been particularly badly hit with increases.

Typically how long does it take for the energy suppliers to publish the new rates? We are with EDF and I am keen to see what will happen to the Economy 7 and Eco20:20 tariff rates.

Thanks for that list , its made me feel even more hard done by as all of a sudden Yorkshire , full of wind farms, power stations and a huge National Grid distribution place  only 2 miles from my house, In a dense populated part of South Yorks , I now pay the second highest standing charge on electric in the UK at 67.44 p SC  with North East paying 71 p and nearby low density  area of North West now one of the lowest with a reduction of SC down to 51.79.
I m baffled in how those Londoners lol  chose who pays what. .
I m just off out now for my usual evening walk around the nearby big National Grid place , still fuming .They are just starting work there on a new solar farm and battery storage place in the Old Thorpe Marsh Power Station .
