Octopus Smart Meter Fault - pre-testing with wattmeter, or straight to Meter Accuracy Test

Well that's nice to know for anyone that wants a remote switch, really quite good for the money.
But as I said, it's horses for courses.0 -
Is this the model you're recommending? If, do you have a link to a manual or more detailed specifications? I could do with something like that which (presumably) doesn't require Internt access. But it's not clear what parameters it logs, at what intervals, or how much history it retains.Phones4Chris said:
I did NOT refer to any cheap power meter, I specifically referred to the Mebus one. It does not use button cells to be eaten up, it uses no cells/batteries at all.bob2302 said:Phones4Chris said:
If all the meter readings tally etc. and it's not estimated billing, then you might want to consider buying a plug-in Energy Consumption Meter. Lidl were selling a Mebus one not too long ago, you may still find one or two in your local store, they were about £6.99 iirc. measuring range 0.3W to 3.120kW. (I certainly wouldn't waste money buying a more expensive one £10-20 or more).
I wouldn't buy a cheap power meter when you can get a tapo p110 for £9.99. They are much more convenient and powerful, and they don't eat button cells.
Now AFAIK the P110 does NOT provide the ability to give instantaneous power readings which was the whole point of the suggestion. If you believe it does, please provide a link to the exact manufacturer's spec. where it says that, and whilst you are about it you could research the Mebus spec. which is a reputable German brand.

Shame the OP hasn't returned, maybe put off with the "what energy monitor" to buy back and forth.
@RogueRecruit how are you getting on?1 -
It's worth more than that just for the convenience of being able to read it from a phone. You can read a tapo in places that are inconvenient, uncomfortable or impossible to see directly. I found that in practice I often needed to use an extension cable with my old meter.Phones4Chris said:
It's very much a case of horses for courses, if you are only interested in the power consumption, voltage and what it's costing you, why pay £3 more for a remote switch you don't need!

Yes that's the one, shame that they don't give more detail on the website. The leaflet with it gives a bit more detail. It's quite basic, measures the voltage, the current power usage in W - specifies the range as 0.3W - 3120W, the Total kWh, and if you set the Unit rate, the Total cost. It retains those last 3. It has a Reset button. It does not require the internet/WiFi or batteries. Mine seems accurate compared to my IHD and digital voltmeter.Qyburn said:

If it suits your needs and you can get it at the price Lidl charged iirc £6.99 great, but whether any of their stores have any left is another matter, these things are usually when it's gone it's gone!
I certainly wouldn't pay some of the prices I've seen them on-line particularly after the P&P, I'd take a 2nd look at the P110 but that of course needs WiFi.
I did, whilst searching, come across B&Q doing an online supplier of another device but it was £9.89 and you can get the same device eBay item number:325981374565 for £7.99 from a UK supplier. Worth further investigation particularly if you're a bit geeky about what you want to measure!0 -
If you have such specific needs, that's fine, especially if you have WiFi.bob2302 said:
