Amending a Travelodge booking

I've booked a "flexible" room at Travelodge for two nights, now only need one night but when I try to ammend it tells me there are no rooms available for me to amend the booking.  I also tried to cancel early check in and it asked me to pay extra.

The Ts and Cs say amendments may be made as long as not changing hotel or dates and the FAQS State

"For Flexible Rate bookings, you will only be charged for any nights that are added to your existing bookings."

So I'm unsure why it won't amend.

It's premium rate phone number to call so hoping someone here might have experience of similar.
