United Kingdom Provident Institution Life Assurance.

I am trying to locate a policy taken out in the 1970s through the above which later became FriendsLife and thereafter Aviva. My parents took out the policy in the 1970s and I am unable to locate the policy documents and Aviva has no record of the policy. Is there anyone who could suggest where my investigations could go next? The policy is payable on the second death (according to the solicitor's notes) - my father died thirty-one years ago and my mother is 100.
I have been investigating this for months so I would be eternally grateful for any help. Thank you.

Are premiums still being paid or was it (eg) a single premium bond written in trust for IHT planning reasons?

and Aviva has no record of the policy.
Have you checked with the right Aviva office?     Norwich, Glasgow and Sunderland handle Aviva and ex NU plans.   Bristol handles ex AXA Sun Life plans and Salisbury handles ex Friends Provident.     The offices of the legacy companies often have little or no information on the policies of the legacy companies.    So, it is important to get the right office/call centre.

OP confirms by PM that premiums are no longer being paid.
