Lost National insurance number

Hi, I worked in England from 1986 to 1993 and have lost my national insurance number. I have applied to HMRC with relevant forms several times since 2018 and rang numerous times only to hit a brick wall. There seems to be nobody who can help me and nobody has any advice to further my search. Please advise

If you've already tried that route, what's the brick wall you are hitting?
You can't just write and ask - or rather you can, but HMRC will then ask for proofs of ID before they go any further. OP would need to provide the same proofs of ID that they'd need to supply on a Form CA5403 - the form specifically designed (see my link immediately above) to obtain their 'missing' NI number.MallyGirl said:maybe do a Subject Access Request to HMRC?

Thank you all for your reply however I have tried all mentioned and can't seem to progress any further0

Could you be more precise about what is halting progress - is it simply that you aren't getting any replies, or are you being asked for information you can't provide?defitzmoon said:Thank you all for your reply however I have tried all mentioned and can't seem to progress any furtherGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Were you by any chance a member of a pension scheme during that period?0

Do you happen to have any old payslips?
