Buildings insurance while extension is built

Options
I'm sure this is a common problem but couldn't find any recent threads.

We're having an extension built, essentially an existing conservatory being replaced by a permanent structure and the existing kitchen back wall  knocked through to access it.

Our current Buildings & Contents insurer is Sainsbury's Bank underwritten by Integra. They won't insure us while the work is being done. Apparently it's mainly because the project will cost more than £50K.

Before I look at comparison sites and/or specialist companies. Does anyone who's been through similar have any advice?

TIA

Comparison sites won't have any true comparison... for niche products some team up with a broker (eg Simply Business for SME insurance) who present their panel as if it were an aggregator but its not, all policies are bought from that partner broker and insurers not on the panel cannot list. I would be surprised there is sufficient demand for any aggregator to have done such a partnership.

You are in the space of specialist insurance and so almost certainly will be talking to brokers or other intermediaries.

Thanks for that @DullGreyGuy. I thought it unlikely a comparison site would be the answer but that's what my insurer advised when they told me to try when they don't cover building work.
