Why is my default youtube videos started looking like this on my laptop using MS Edge



How can I fix this please?

Look like what? What are you trying to fix? (Maybe I'm missing the obvious)

looks to me like the OP has  multiple  tabs open  each with a youtube video in it

That was the only thing I could see - but thought they might be a heavy youtube user?

Yes I am a heavy youtube user, lol
look where the video is and look where the red bar is showing how much I have watched, (its like this on all videos) why is the video not covering the whole area?

Why is the white bars on the side? its like this on all videos, only started doing this today. I've not changed anything

I don't use edge as it's generally not a very nice browser - but just checked youtube on it - and my videos show full screen within the box. Do you mean that the video seems to take up about 3/4 of the screen that it normally does?

Have you tried closing all of those tabs and force exiting/refreshing the browser to see if it still does it?

Or try Chrome/Firefox etc. to see if it does it there?

It could be because you're running out of memory cause you have thousands of tabs open showing videos

If you bring up task manager , how much memory is edge using and how much memory do you have?

Looking again you also have something downloading/running in chrome and multiple other things open, lack of memory certainly could be playing a part here.

Question - does youtube play videos at a lower resolution/smaller if memory is becoming critically low?

No idea if this is any help as presumably you know youtube quite well

Why the heck do you have 100s of tabs open?? That poor machine is probably groaning, trying to do anything. Close all the tabs, shut down the machine, re-boot, clear all cache, history and remp files and try again. With ONE tab open, maybe two.

Doesn't look as if you are running in full screen mode.

Thats not what the op wants....

The op is saying the video in the window doesn't fill it , it's smaller than the window and wants to know why
