Changing provider - what happens to credit?

I have over £100 in credit and they've just double my bills (I increased my thermostat by 2° for two weeks to see if it helped a spot of damp, so they projected a higher gas spend and doubled the bill... even though I'm in credit and winter is ending...).
Point is, I'm going to end up even more in credit. I've turned the thermostat down a lot more since (not because of this, just because it hasn't been necessary - I've had windows open so there's no point having it on too high).
If I change provider, will I get my money back or will it move from credit pot to credit pot? (I know there are benefits to being in credit, but I don't want to see it build up too much).

Probably paid back via the current supplier's direct debit arrangement (so don't cancel it too soon!) or cheque or bank transfer perhaps if no DD in place?
It would be unusual for the credit to move to the new supplier - except in the case where suppliers go bump and another supplier takes over.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0 -
If you change supplier your current provider should close the account, issue a final bill within 6 weeks and refund any credit.
