in Credit cards
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any advice on interest payments on credit cards - incurred due to delays in travel insurance company reimbursing medical bill fees. Who is responsible for these interest payments - me? Or can I submit a new claim for these interest payments?

You'll need to take a look at your policy, but I think it's going to be you.
Did you have no other option than to borrow at credit card rates?0 -
What does your insurance contract say? Does it specify that costs will be reimbursed in a particular timescale, and they've failed to meet that timescale due to an error on their part? If that's the case then you could try claiming for the interest charges. However, if the delay was caused by you not submitting receipts on time, for instance, it may be more difficult to hold them liable. Or if they don't specify a timescale in the contract, again you may be unlucky (if it says something like "Payment will be made within one week of receipts being received", that's different to "We aim to make payment within one week").You need to check the wording of the insurance document very carefully to see where you stand.0

You normally would be however if the delays have been unreasonable and the fault of the insurer (rather than your GP being slow sending reports etc) then any excess time could be a complaint and due reimbursement assuming you didnt have the means to pay it off before receiving the settlement.
So if the FOS thinks it should take 6 weeks and your GP/hospital etc were all super quick replying but it ends up taking 12 weeks then you'd be able to log a complaint for half the interest paid. Obviously if its not your insurers fault of the FOS thinks 12 weeks is reasonable then it would be nothing.0
