Samsung 5 Year Warranty

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a Samsung Washing Machine through AO.com and was offered a 5 year warranty.
Product was purchased on the 9th October 2023.
Product was registered on their website at the end of 2023. Current warranty expires on 31.12.2025.
I decided to check today that my washing machine was registered for the 5 year warranty, alongside the new TV which I have purchased. I spoke to a Samsung representative who told me that the grace period of 90 days to register the washing machine for a 5 year warranty was now over. There was nothing they could do about it.
When I initially registered the washing machine there was absolutely nothing that said I needed to further register it for a 5 year warranty. Nothing pointed me towards a separate registration for the machine. I feel incredibly mislead and disappointed that I’ve missed out on another 3 years of cover because of their lack of clarity. I’ve only missed the grace period by a month and clearly I would have registered the product for a 5 year when I first registered it just after I’d bought the machine. If I registered the product for the normal warranty then of course I would have done the extra registration if it was made clear to me. That just doesn’t make logical sense. Why would I have turned down an extra 3 years but for being mislead on their part.
Can you help or suggest any alternatives? I have asked to speak to the case manager and I will fight my corner.
Thanks in advance,
Tom Langlois

These manufacturer warranties are normally done as a deal with the likes of Domestic & General and the device comes with a big sticker on the front to call a telephone number to register for your free extended warranty. The agents will answer the phone Samsung or whatever but will be D&G staff.
As extended warranties are above and beyond your statutory rights manufacturers can put any conditions they want on it like making sure its registered within X days of purchase... it makes it a lot cheaper as people peal the sticker off, throw it away and only think about it months/years later when there is a problem.
Looking on AO's website at Samsung Washers it states "claim 5 year warranty" which if you click on then says you must register within 90 days and gives you a link and a telephone number to do so.
Have you spoken to AO? They may not have much sway but ultimately its in their interest that you have a 5 year warrant from Samsung than coming to them under your 6 year statutory rights so they may be able to try and help depending on how far outside the 90 days you are.1
