Hi everybody, I received a text message on Friday saying I’ve been awarded pip (I first made the claim in October) does anyone know how long it’ll be before I start receiving payments and when I’ll receive my back payment thanks in advance

Assuming you didn't transfer from DLA and you had the difficulties for at least 3 months when you rang to start your claim then it will be from when you rang to start the claim. Money owed is usually paid first as a lump sum. This is usually in your bank 3-5 working days from when payment was sent.
You will then receive the award letter. Your first 4 weeks payment will be about 4 weeks later, the award letter will give more information about that and what day of the week you'll receive your money.1 -

Sorry to sound a bit thick but does the text saying pip awarded mean the back payment has been sentpoppy12345 said:Assuming you didn't transfer from DLA and you had the difficulties for at least 3 months when you rang to start your claim then it will be from when you rang to start the claim. Not really.... that text is literally just a basic notification that you have been given an award of PIP.. it doesn't refer to financials and I'd defer to poppy's post in that regard. Back payment (if relevant) shouldn't take too long and letter coming from DWP should be explanatory.Otommy said:poppy12345 said:Assuming you didn't transfer from DLA and you had the difficulties for at least 3 months when you rang to start your claim then it will be from when you rang to start the claim. When you do receive the decision letter obviously study it closely in relation to the decision and whether you agree with it. I would advise asking DWP for copy of your assessment report they have if you had an assessment as it could be useful including when/if your claim is reviewed in future."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0
