Later on last week I called again and support confirmed that my card was not activated.  I told them this was good and I did not want to be allowed to use the card.

Then of course I slipped up.  I tried to use the card (I destroyed the physical card but have the card details on an app) and it worked.  A few hours and a few thousand £ gone missing, I managed to delete the app and details to prevent me losing more.

This is not acceptable. You should complain and ask for the recent transactions to be refunded in full. This rarely happens but here the lender was on notice
that you were vulnerable due to a gambling addiction and did not want to be able to use the card at all; you have been very badly let down. Send this complaint to the ombudsman if it is rejected.

PS Gamban is excellent to block online gambling, much more effective than Gamstop.

Folks, this user Arents has bumped a few posts like this for some reason, they are making posts on new ones too so I guess it's not a bot

The OP still seems to be active on the forum but I don't think they need more advice on a post that was done 14 months ago

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
