Switching a second Chase current account - debit card number?

Hi,

For those of you have opened a second Chase current account - but chose to keep the debit card linked to spending on your first account -  and subsequently switched this second account to a different bank, did you enter the debit card number when applying for the switch (even though it is not linked to the second account) or did you choose the ‘no debit card’ option? And did the switch go through ok?

  • I've done both. Once where a card was required - then card will then revert back to the original account when the switch goes through. When the card isn't required I selected the "no debit card" option. Both switches worked and both paid out (Nationwide and Coop).

I've done it both ways as well without issue.

If you want to be super safe, then make sure you change the account the card is linked to in the Chase app - if you say there's a card then link it to the account your switching, or if you say there's no card then link it to another account.
