Banks are required to verify that they know your primary residential address (i.e. the one where you are registered to vote). Admittedly this does make things difficult for those living a double life.
Some savings providers are online only and don't send anything by post.
  • Until 26 months ago most of my bank accounts, savings accounts, visa bills, were split between my house and friends house where I was living. Never caused me any issues.

Do you have links to both addresses on your credit history file with accounts already placed?

Is there a particular reason why you want the accounts at two different addresses?
  • You can be registered to vote at more than one house in a two distinct constituencies (do not vote twice in a parliamentary election). Two
homes will each have council tax and two sets of utilities (telephone, water, electricity, and gas) all quite legal. Easy enough to have two sets of accounts.
However, this can cause problems with building societies when they do a search of your credit files to check your identity and find the different addresses. The three credit reference agencies manage to collect all the information for the two different addresses and combine into one.
Never had a problem with the banks as they seem to handle the situation and provide accounts with different sort codes as per the locales.
HMRC seem to be able to combine the savings interest from two addresses without any problem. You need to nominate which address is your home and which address for correspondence.
