Changing old/previous MOT as Mileage was incorrect
Has anyone had any success in requesting a previous MOT mileage be changed?
The MOT in 2021 failed on tyres - showing on the MOT checker - mileage was incorrect at 78166
Next day passed with new tyres - mileage corrected to 28167.
28k was the correct low mileage and the MOTs since then still reflect the low miles.
Didnt think much at the time as it seemed obvious to me that it was an error/mistake - now trying to sell it, I have had 2 x people cancel viewings as they say the mileage looks 'dodgy'
Sent email to DVSA asking if history can be changed but wondering if that's even possible for an old MOT
Full BMW service history book also shows the low miles at around the MOT dates.
recent MOT history...
2017 16801
2018 20147
2019 23713
2020 26544
2021 78166 FAIL
2021 28167 PASS
2022 35899
2023 39607
current 39990 (car rarely used now only done around 300 miles in 6 months which is why selling)
Thanks

You need strong evidence to get it changed after 28 days, so I'd say not a hope of getting an MOT from 3.5yrs ago changed.
Anybody who actually has two brain cells to rub together will see exactly what's happened here, and ignore it.
If people are walking away from the car over it, they'd almost certainly be nightmares to deal with in the future - or they were looking for an excuse anyway.9 -

Yes, im not overly hopeful but ive emailed to say that my request to change this mistake is validated by all the subsequent mileage recordings fully accepted by the MOT system.1 -

They won't change it. Presumably there are also service records to back up the date/mileage history of the car.
Anyone who can't see for themselves is a high risk buyer as others say.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
