Cannot get ITVx or UKTVPlay on Humax Freeview Play HD Recorder

I bought a new  Humax Freeview Play HD Recorder (model FVP-5000T) about 18 months ago.  I can get most of the smart TV channels, such as BBC Iplayer, Youtube, PBS America, but there are some channels listed on the Freeview screen I cannot get at all.

When I go to ITVx, I get a message which says "ITV Hub is unavailable on your device".  I have searched the internet and it appears that my model of recorder does not support ITVx, though I think many other such devices can.  I read somewhere that the older devices can get ITVx but newer ones cannot, which seems a bit odd.

I also cannot get UKTVPlay.  I have tried to register online as per the on-screen instructions but any success.

I have more or less concluded that it is just my make and model of recorder that is preventing me from getting these channels.  Does anybody know of any other possible reason?

Yes same here so I just watch it from TV direct.

My LG oled tv wont play itvx. Solution I use is download itvx app onto a firestick and I can now watch it on my LG tv.

We use a Roku stick for all viewing on our kitchen based tv as there's no convenient aerial point. It works for both ITVX and UKTV Play as well as numerous other channels I've never heard of.

You just need a free hdmi socket on your tv and get power from a USB port (or a separate power supply which is provided by Roku).
