Páramo garments use the innovative Nikwax® Analogy® Waterproof Fabric System to keep you dry and comfortable when active outdoors. The two-layer design mimics the action of animal fur, actively pushing water away from the body and deflecting rain to stop you feeling cold, clammy and wet.
Now is your chance to win a top-to-toe Páramo bundle. We have two jacket and trouser sets to give away so you can stay dry, warm and comfortable outdoors this winter.

To enter, watch the video and answer the below question to be in with a chance of winning!

What is our two-layer technology similar to in nature?

Otter Fur
Polar Bear Fur
Both     <<< suggested answer

EDIT: AN OTTER IS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO BUT NO DIRECT REFERENCE IS MADE - MY SUGGESTED ANSWER IS BASED ON ONLY GENERIC MENTIONS OF "ANIMAL FUR" IN BOTH THE VID AND THE COMP BLURB. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND! THANKS TO @robmachete

  • Usually, when the choices are formatted like this, the correct one is "both" but I'm not sure that's the case here. The text asks us the watch the video, which doesn't mention any animals by name, but does include a clip of an otter. Also, when I search for "Nikwax" and "otter" I get a few hits across various websites, but I get no significant results when searching for "Nikwax" and "polar bear".
I did wonder about this myself, as both the website text and the video only mention "animal fur" in a generic sense but I noticed the pic of the otter too - I I hazarded my guess thinking that it might be a red herring... hmmm...  I'll edit original post to mention this. I like your web search technique btw. Thanks for raising the point!
  • Agree its nor clear. I too googled paramo polar bear and got nothing back. Change that to otter and found a blog "good-enough-for-an-otter" on their site.
So will plump for otter, but it's still potentially both!
  • Have a look at this link Paramo site at the bottom of the page. - (This site will not let me post the link as I have not been around long enough to post links.) I joined the site in 2015. As this site has helped me in the past I will not spit the dummy out like Mr Angry. The site is a blog called Outdoor Stories dated September 22 2017.
  • Not wishing to bump this thread unnecessarily, however in reference to previous comments -

(Personally, I still think the answer is 'both' as the water repellent properties in the Nikwax Analogy fabric are not unique to otters.... )

  • Thanks for putting the link on I didn’t want to post the answer as otter as in case I was wrong but I have gone with otter. You may well be right with both as the answer.
  • Hi, I have received a reply from the comp organisers & they have confirmed that the answer is 'BOTH'.

    Thank you for your email.

"The answer would be both, as both animals have fur that repels water away from their body so they can stay dry in their natural habitat. We have an otter in our video but we used to use a polar bear as the analogy for our Analogy fabric".

    I hope this helps.

Nice work! Thank you @robertjmca 🤗
