guys i need your help. I got my car (ford) was just serviced 6 weeks ago and they said there was no problems. now today i was driving and my brakes completely went. it was really lucky i wasnt on a motorway. i called rac who told me that the brake pipe had been rubbing off the hub and suggested (as they are not allowed to make statements) that this should have been picked up when it was serviced. He advised me to take pictures. My brakes were completely gone.
What are my rights? Can i prove it was faulty 6 weeks ago? Would they have to repair it? i've already had numerous problems with this garage (left me waiting til 9am to 4pm when it should have been ready at 430pm. charged me £50 for telling me information i had already given them, gave me no paperwork and when i first bought my brand new car i had to get another one as someone had been smoking in my car and had left fags ends in the ashtray! i only go to this garage to get it serviced because ive got free servicing for life.

Unless the RAC bloke will testify which i doubt he will, i dont think you can proove anything as it was 6 weeks ago, it could have started when you drove off from the garage after service, dont think you can do anything other than complain and see what they will do ?0

you were waiting from 9am till 4pm yet were told the car would be ready at 4:30? surely thats early?
As others have said, unless you can get an expert to testify 100% that this problem was definately there 6 weeks ago you stand 0 chance of anything.0 -
well your in a tricky bit.you would need to prove that the flexi pipe was loose at time of inspection
had they actually worked on the brakes you would have a bit more leverage but an inspection can be as little as shining a light under the wheel arch.
it is possible for the flexi to come out of its holder with say the force of hitting a big puddle0 -
Sorry I cant give any advice except I think I would rather pay for the servicing in future.:j0

me to looks like they giving you cheap service because your getting free servicing for life.. its not free your now paying for it with your brakes gone??Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,

This problem obviously didn't occur over night so I would personally think through a couple of options contacting trading standards for advice, contacting a mechanic to see if they can put a time frame/ report together, ( i had a problem vehicle and had a mechanic produce a report for £60 ) or take a risk front out the garage mention the RAC findings and see what answer you get and go from there .£2008 in 2008 club member no 390
