Bike order from local bike shop

Hello everyone, I ordered a bike from a local bike shop which has a good reputation in the local area as its used by a lot of members of the cycling club that i am a member of for servicing/repairs and buying new bikes.
I placed the order with them on Friday 19th January, I was sent a payment link to pay a £500 deposit, with the remainder to be paid when i collect the bike from the shop.
When I ordered the bike I was told that it would be two weeks for delivery of the bike, which was acceptable, its now 4 weeks since I ordered the bike and i havent received it, if I was to cancel the order, am I entitled to ask for my £500 deposit back?
I know that I can buy a bike from other sellers and receive it within a few days, so I am looking at doing this instead.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Mike

Hello OP
This is covered under delivery of goods, as they've missed the first timeframe you can give them another that is reasonable accounting for the circumstances and if they miss that also treat the contract at an end with a full refund due.
Given this is a local shop with a reputation have you had a chat with them? They might be willing to let you cancel any way or find some other way to smooth out the bumps in the purchase. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

I have text the bike shop manager every week since the two week window passed, and each time he has said it will be delivered the following week, I think i will have a chat with him today and give him until next Friday, then if its not delivered by then, i will request a refund.

I wonder if the bike is manufactured in the Far East and delivery has been disrupted by the problem with shipping in the Red Sea. Other outlets may claim they can deliver more quickly but check to see that they really can before burning any bridges with the current shop.

Fingers crossed it arrives, if not I have an agreement with the bike shop manager that I can have my deposit back.1

Having a word is always the best way forward, you then get the chance to assess whether the retailer is genuine or chancing his arm. Text messages give you no real inkling.1
