Amazon charging £1.99 everytime

I have Amazon Prime and since the introduction of the £1.99 fee if you spend less than £20, whenever I buy an item that says free delivery today by 10pm, I have found I am being charged £1.99 on every order OVER £20. Amazon have been refunding on a case by case basis. I have sent them screenshots which show "Free delivery by 10pm today" in checkout and then a £1.99 delivery charge in total below. They have taken a cursory look at my account but said nothing is wrong. I now can no longer get same day or by 1pm next day deliveries without paying £1.99 and then spending 40 minutes each time getting it refunded. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is this an ASA issue? My local trading standards has been abolished in favour of telling you to contact Citizens advice.

If a service I was already paying for made me do this every time I placed an order, I'd shop elsewhere.

No. I think it's a presentation/understanding issue.

You should see a reversal of the £1.99 in the payment summary, marked as promotion.

No, it's a not paying attention issue. As said above it's credited back at checkout.

If its not being credited back it could be a random account issue... I've had one for years where periodically same day and next day delivery just disappears for a few hours each day (eg same day was available until 6am then stopped and then came back at 9am until the normal cut off time). 

Used to get really annoying as the staff just say it means that item is out of stock at the relevant warehouse and don't get the fact its the 100,000+ items that all disappear at the same time and reappear again every single Tuesday so seems grossly improbable. Also something would filter as being available on same/next day, still show as prime delivery but say it'll be delivered in 3-4 days. 

They never got to the bottom of it, had Prime for a few years for free as a gesture of goodwill from them and it doesn't seem to happen as regularly now.

You realise Prime is more than just free delivery (on certain items)?

I do, and I'm happy with it.  OP isn't.

Thanks. Amazon havent spotted it and refunded. It seems that when you have voucher discount offers or other promotions it adds it to that without explanation, except discount is more that the percentage offered, so in come cases £1.99 has been added. I can only find one where it wasn't discounted back.

Answer is simple ignore that delivery option.
