Hello All,

Read on this forum its best to post in here before appealing a ticket so here go's.

Arrived at pub in Corsham that has a free car park for patrons. I have been there many times before for drinks and meals and have never received a parking charge, nor have I ever had to get a parking ticket or register my vehicle.

Saturday the 3rd of February 24 we arrived around 18:30 and left the pub at 22:00 after enjoying a birthday meal with friends. I received a letter informing me of the charge today (15/02/2024)

It was pitch black in the car park and I didn't see any signs whatsoever, mainly because I was focusing on actually driving in the dark, I also saw no signs on the way into the pub. I was with friends and we were chatting away so again wouldn't have noticed any signs.

I have receipts and a bank statement showing I spent over £150 at the pub.

I called the pub and they said to appeal sending bank statement showing transactions at the pub, but from reading up on Group Nexus they never accept an appeal.

What can I do to win this? It seems really crazy that I could get charged £60 (going up to £100) to park in a free car park of a pub that I was a genuine customer in.

Appeal as the registered keeper (NOT DRIVER) saying that:

Group Nexus has breached the Code of Practice by introducing new parking rules at this pub but failing to put up extra signs alerting people of the risk of a parking change.  We found out too late (when we complained) that you have hidden a keypad somewhere in the pub.  This is unacceptable; no wonder Ministers described this sort of corporate greed/scam as 'extorting money from motorists'.

I was an occupant of the car and it was pitch black. No parking terms were seen by any of us.  But in an effort to resolve this without needing POPLA, attached is a copy of bank account proof that the group spent £150 at this pub.  A complaint has been made with your clients, who are interested in the outcome because they were led to believe that genuine patrons are not to be penalised.

The above is your appeal. Copy & paste. Upload your £150 evidence.

DO NOT add words like 'when I parked'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for this Coupon. I have submitted the above, however checking the bank statement the charges are dated the two days after the actual transactions were made. Hopefully this will be enough.
