  • Interesting points maybe for the people that live alone or couples air fryers can pay for themselves for the initial outlay of buying them as many already have an oven in place.

I can't see one being money saving for larger households - minute for minute they are more expensive to run and the outlay on one large enough for a family would take a long time to recoup, even if you could.  For me, on my own, they allow me to cook things for myself that I perhaps wouldn't bother to put the oven on for.

What I've often done in the past is microwave dishes to being cooked, then popped under the grill to brown the top - where now I maybe microwave it to 75% cooked and finish it in the air fryer - it gives a more 'oven baked' result than just the grill.
  • Ive never bought into 'the save 75% of cooking costs " hype but I do have 2 air fryers and I do use one or the other most days

3 adults here and what I love about the air fryer is the speed and the fact that they are so small ( compared to the oven ) that Im more inclined to put it on for small items - like jacket spuds , pre baked rolls , sausage rolls etc,. I love that I can walk in from the shops, throw 3 pre baked rolls in one drawer and 6 rashers of bacon in the other and we are eating within 10 mins - enough time to put the shopping away and make the tea :)

I love that my other air fryer will have a chicken plus the roasted veg cooked in under an hour , joint of beef in around 30 mins.

When the family are here is the oven, with perhaps the air fryer being an aid but not a mission would I get rid of the oven
