Find a friendly neighbour who doesn’t have a water meter.

When our new neighbours moved in the tried cleaning their block paved drive with a lance an it created a terrible mess.  I leant them my T-racer and they finished the job in a quarter of the time with little mess.  I've never got the impression that the Karcher uses excessive amounts of water.  Certainly not enough to make a noticeable difference to a water bill.

You could use a rotary floor machine with a very stiff brush .
Probably best to buy both used so you can repeat the job in the future rather than use a contractor
Once the general muck is machine scrubbed/rinsed away use a acid based stone wash, just spread over to work no scrubbing needed, then rinse and the stone will come up like new .

Jet washers don’t use a lot of water if you use the dirt blaster lance. It’s high pressure, but relatively low volume, a lot less than a hose pipe running. Suspect the high water bill was due to something else.

Don't us a dirt blaster lance on block paving as it will blast the sand out from between the pavers.  Best bet is to use what Karcher call a T-racer (no idea why they call it that), https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/t-5-t-racer-surface-cleaner-26440840.html  It's an enclosed spinning head with brush around the circumference.  Extremely effective.

There is not really a brush around the circumference, just something to stop too much water spraying around.
However you are right they are very effective, as long as you keep them flat on the surface by walking along with them ( like with a metal detector) . I found on our patio, I still have to go over the odd bit with the lance afterwards, but overall a real time saver.

I'll rephrase it as there are bristles, like a brush, around the circumference!!!

Mine has not even got bristles, it must be a new innovation as mine is a few years old.

Hubby tried the "T-Racer" if that is the term but found it was not very effective so had to go back to the blaster which was effective but as has been said, he had to resand it afterwards and then sealed it.   2 hrs later it rained unfortunately ! :(

Actually I didn't think you had more than one attachment for the Karcher Jet Wash
There are a few useful things, drain pipe cleaner, gutter cleaner etc.

It's worth noting that certain algae remover liquids are effectively just white vinegar (acetic acid) and a bit of biodegradable detergent, so making your own could be cheaper.  Some guy on youtube did his marley blocks with hot water and toilet bleach in a watering can
