Missing product recovery CD

I have been having problems with my Fujitsu Siemens desktop for a while and was going to re format it over the next few days.

I now cannot find my recovery CD. I have the one for the drivers and the utilities. Is there any way I can re format it without the cd rom?

Thanks in advance

  • See if there is a hidden partition on your hard drive, or it may not be hidden,

open My computer and see if you have a second partition, this may well have the installation files needed to reinstall windows, especially if there is an i386 folder on it

Okay....dont understand this much so you may have to explain it a few times but ive opened my computer, clicked on the c dricve and it said there were hidden files. I clicked to show them and it have brought up a whole list of files. One of which is named CD1. Would this hold everything I need to re format the machine? and if so how would I do this from the folder?

    Cheers

Sorry forget that...it seems to be for a symantec product that I thought had been removed.

The c drive does have hidden folders. What am I looking for to re format the machine?

  • The C: drive won't hold the files and folders needed
Open My computer again, right click the C:drive and click properties

Does the capacity of the hard drive equal what you expected to see. For instance, Did you buy a 120Gb laptop and it only shows 100Gb or less than you envisioned? I'm not talking free space or Used space, just capacity
  • Hi Angela, you may still be able to make a recovery CD to restore your PC back to its original settings, most modern PC's have this option in the start menu. Check your instruction booklet that came with the PC as well.
  • Also check to see when you start it up there is not an option to "recover" at the bottom of the screen, if there is it might be an F5 key or something ????
