At what point does ordering from a company that fails to deliver on dispatch times almost become a scam?
Pre-ordered from The Range on a bed in November and they took the money with a delivery time of 5th January, however as the time drew nearer the delivery date was almost slipping by a day every day. After a couple of weeks of no shows and delays I cancelled the order mid January (money was returned after about 7 days).
Tried with their sister company, Wilko, who had the same bed in stock, with a delivery date of today (14th Feb). On the order the delivery date never changed yet today they're now saying 6th March. So I'm now cancelling that order (but reliant upon emails/WhatsApp to do that as Wilko have no phone number).
So the companies have had my money (a not insignificant amount too!) for nearly 3 months in total and I have no product to show for it and zero customer service empathy.
I'm guessing there's no recourse except for a lesson learned?

If I were you, I would look at Trustpilot reviews for The Range...(includes orders via the Wilko.com website).
I wish that I had done so beforehand, 25% one star reviews (many about refunds not received, but also incorrect goods, vanished goods etc etc).2 -
I ordered two tins of paint the same colour from Wilko last month.Paid £5.99 for the quickest delivery day, Friday. One tin turned up on Friday. I had to deal with CS over the 2nd tin - nightmare and totally inept. They eventually agreed to send another tin on Monday evening for Thursday delivery. The missing tin turned up on Tuesday.Ended up with 3 tins but will never use them again, they were good before the Range bought the name.I left a Trust Pilot review and found out I was far from alone with my experience.0

The Range have created a marketplace. The majority of the items that you order are not supplied by The Range, but third parties.
Makes for a pretty messy environment unfortunately.0 -
Yes, on the website it has a "marketplace" symbol on the item if it's not sold in stores. As soon as I saw this, I always ensured that I went into the store and if they didn't have what I wanted then I'd go elsewhere, even if it was a bit more expensive. B&Q do the same thing (although there's is a central warehouse rather than 3rd party suppliers). If it's not in store then I don't buy it.
